Mental Health Animation Project
Through my final semester at Lakeland University I was given the chance to create a project that can make an impact on the community. With this opportunity in mind, I wanted to focus on the stigma behind mental health. Combining two different disciplines and research, I was able to create this video project that serves as a intervention towards destigmatizing mental illness.
Using a script that promoted stories from actual individuals, I created a storyboard sketching out each frame and what will occur in each scene. This was created through Procreate on my iPad.
I created six characters in Adobe After Effects, all with bios in correspondence with the stories being told in the video. I wanted to create a diverse cast since this is an experience that everyone can feel. I started with sketches with the original concepts and then extended these concepts into Illustrator.
After character development, I had to start to create assets for various scenes in order to best enhance the video and engagement quality. These are just a few examples. The still images are created in Adobe Illustrator and the GIFs were created in Procreate.

Characters then were rigged up in After Effects using a Duik plugin. I also lip synced each character with their corresponding dialogue.
